	<title>Concrete hive - 3D matte painting</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/newgallerycrits/g18/369818/369818_1325850739_small.jpg"><br><br>A frame from camera projection of a pretty complex 3D matte, basically a digital environment, created as a practice of multi-camera mapping. The city (over 600k polys) was created in 3D, together with 10 projection cameras displaying various pieces of matte in a way that allowed horizontal camera move. Geometry and cameras were then imported into Nuke and comped. Additional animations, like smoke and ships, were added on cards and placed accordingly in Nuke's 3D space. The whole sequence, rendered in 2k, ended in After Effects, where the final tweaks were applied. You can check the finished projection in my portfolio or here:<br />

Matte was mapped onto 3D geometry within Nuke and comped. Additional stuff includes 3D airship with simple effects, waterfall (particle flow in 3dsMax), various bits of moving fog, clouds, water blinks, etc. <br />

Simple roads and crude, steel bridge have been created to provide the enemy forces with all necessities, like food and ammo.<br />

She apparently has taken care of the car in the back and is now engaging the main truck with some sort of precious/dangerous load.<br />
The truck doesn't have any front windows for additional protection and the driver uses vehicle computers and electronic scanners to drive and navigate.<br />

Harvester uses its semi-organic tentacles to gather the spawn, first heating and melting its protective spider-like net.]]>

Megalopolis-1 is one of a dozen gigantic multi-leveled cities where the remaining population found shelter.<br />
